This blog answers some of the most common questions about Trae’s data practices. We’ll explain where data is stored, how it’s used, and what options you have to control its collection and use. For a comprehensive overview of what we collect, and how we use the information we collect, users are encouraged to review Trae's Privacy Policy available on the website.
1. Where do you store user data?
We store user data on secure servers in the United States, Singapore and Malaysia.
2. Where are my codebase files stored?
When you use TRAE, your codebase files are stored locally on your devices. To provide you with codebase indexes, your codebase files will be temporarily uploaded to our servers to compute embeddings, after which all plaintext code will be permanently deleted; we only retain the embeddings and associated metadata.
3. Do I have any options if I don't want my codebase files to be temporarily uploaded to your servers as context?
You can add files to your "ignore" list to exclude them from the context Trae pulls. You can also learn more about which context TRAE accesses here.
4. Do you store or use my chat data?
When you use our services, your chat interactions, including related code snippets, may be stored and used for analytics, product improvement, and model training. But you can opt out by turning on Privacy Mode.
5. Do I have any control over the collection of my telemetry data?
You can limit the collection of telemetry data through Privacy Mode.
-
When Privacy Mode is enabled, certain telemetry data will be collected for basic functionality and performance monitoring, but no telemetry data will be collected for analytics or product improvement.
-
When Privacy Mode is disabled, additional telemetry data will be collected for analytics and product improvement.
